Man in custody after shooting girlfriend

A Columbus woman is in the hospital and her boyfriend is behind bars after he allegedly shot her in the throat Monday.

Weeks named Mississippi's Parent of the Year

A Lowndes County woman has been named Mississippi's Parent of the Year by the state Department of Education. Roberta Weeks was awarded the designation late last week and received the letter in the mail informing her of the award on Saturday.

CVB tables proposed ethics policies

The Columbus-Lowndes Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors voted unanimously Monday to table two items related to the establishment of a conflict of interest policy and a new policy regarding teleconferencing as a means of attending meetings.
