Bobby Rush, Honeyboy Edwards, Keb Mo and the Warren Haynes Band are set to join other musicians May 6-7 in Greenwood to mark the 100th anniversary of blues icon Robert Johnson”s birth in Copiah County May 8, 1911.
Free concerts at Whittington Park will also feature the Cedric Burnside Project, Alvin Youngblood Hart and Steven Johnson, the legend”s grandson, plus many more, according to the Greenwood Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Festivities include a panel of blues authorities discussing Johnson”s music and legacy, a Delta Blues Legend Tour, a history and art exhibit on Johnson”s life, and special church service on Johnson”s actual birthday, Sunday, May 8.
