Begin the New Year with a bang! The surefire best way to flip the switch on your hairstyle is to aim toward one of the season's must-haves bangs.
One size does not fit all when it comes to chopping a bang, and that's just the short of it. Frederic Fekkai, internationally renowned hairstylist, says, "Every woman should claim her own spotlight." My thoughts exactly, and kudos to you, Frederic, for spreading the news. A great bang is one way to go about it.
The truth is there are a myriad of bangs beginning to pop up in 2012 with spring just around the corner. One of my favorites is the supermodel bang cropped straight and blunt, but longer to fall just at the brows. We have seen this sexy version of a bang on Heidi Klum for years. Whenever she wants to jazz up her style, her stylist combs her blonde strands forward and snip, snip, instant update.
Bangs are also growing longer with a side-swept '60s mod vibe; think deeper side part, cheek-flirting length. It's modern, chic and just requires skipping trims for a few weeks to give your stylist more hair to work with for a longer, shaggier bang.
Another favorite of mine is the more avant-garde "baby doll" bang cropped very short, blunt and sometimes a bit jagged. It has been seen on all the runways and in most fashion magazines. I love its sense of daring, devil-may-care style, but it is not for the faint of heart. Be sure before you become daring.
For those of you thinking about ordering up a serving of bangs a la carte, be warned if you decide to grow out your bangs for next season, it's not always a cinch. It will require patience and time for a short bang to grow out. During the growing-out phase, I suggest ignoring the bangs altogether, out-of-sight, out-of-mind with clever headbands, barrettes or hats. Before you know it, your bangs will be several inches longer.
But for now, if you are up for a change, who cares about next season? Drop some hair, turn some heads, and take a bang for a test drive.
If you aren't in the mood for bangs, then just pull your longer strands back and let a few layers fall around the face, or ask your stylist for a bit of fringe chiseled into your cut just around the face.
Bangs are hot this season, and I say, "Why not!"
