Hannah Vanderberg, 14, of Starkville will compete for the title of Miss Mississippi Teen USA 2014 Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at the Harrah’s Casino Event Center in Tunica.
Vanderberg, the daughter of Gregory and Christina Vanderberg, attends Starkville Academy, is a member of the Starkville Academy Dance Team and Starkville Academy Band and enjoys horseback riding.
The ninth-grader, who considers singer Carrie Underwood a role model, also writes original songs she plans to record at Don Pounds Productions in Eupora, for a debut CD.
The Vanderberg household is in a flurry of preparation in the final days before the competition begins Thursday.
“We are going crazy, but we’re excited,” said Christina Vanderberg. “There is so much to do to finish up the last few things. The whole family is going to Tunica.”
Hannah Vanderberg’s sponsors for the competition are Mediagraphix, Synergetics, Legends Salon, Callaway Orthodontics, Oktibbeha County Co-Op, C.C. Clark Inc., Starkville Auto Parts and Rackley Oil Inc., all of Starkville. Other sponsors include Mitchell Dental Clinic of Ackerman, Nikki McKenzie Photography, and family and friends.
The winner of Miss Mississippi Teen will go on to represent the state in the 2014 Miss Teen USA competition seen live on television.
The Miss Mississippi Teen USA pageants are the official preliminaries to the Miss Teen USA pageants and are a Donald J. Trump venture.
