Military brief: Renacker returns

The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Vicksburg District's Mike Renacker has recently returned from 10 months of deployment to Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan.  

 

Renacker served as the program manager for Military Construction (MILCON) for Regional Command East in Afghanistan. While assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, he managed all military construction projects for the eastern half of Afghanistan. These 138 MILCON programs totaled 1.3 billion dollars in ongoing construction projects in support of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Training Mission-Afghanistan.  

 

In addition to his normal duties, he played a critical role in ongoing base planning, coordinated efforts between infrastructure lines of effort, and assisted in realigning base resources and personnel in an effort to streamline operations.  

 

For his outstanding service, Renacker was awarded the NATO Medal, the Commander's Award for Civilian Service Medal and the Secretary of Defense Medal for the Global War on Terrorism.  

 

At the Vicksburg District, Renacker is responsible for six individual programs that include construction and flood damage restoration and environmental restoration and planning. He earned a Master of Arts Degree from the University of West Florida in historical archaeology.  

 

Renacker resides in Clinton with his wife, Melissa and their two children. He is the son of Barbara Van Every of Columbus and the late George Renacker.
