While it may not be the actual Fab Four, the live show in Rent Auditorium Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. will be a chance to relive the sound that inspired a sea change in music and pop culture.
Beatlemania Magic, a tribute to the legendary band, recreates early Beatles concerts with identical costumes and equipment on the Mississippi University for Women campus. With Vox amps and Rickenbacker guitars like those made famous by the British band, the show features songs from "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to "Come Together."
The performance is funded by the Leslie Farrell Threadgill Lecture and Artist Series, an endowment established by her family to promote family and cultural influences, to advance the artistic and intellectual environment of the university and to strengthen the cultural bond between the university and the public.
The band consists of James Willaman as George Harrison, Russ Saylor as Paul McCartney, Stephen Marks as Ringo Starr and Bill Kropinak as John Lennon.
"We''re excited to bring the Beatlemania group to MUW and are looking forward to an evening of legendary Beatles music," said Andrea Holcombe, executive director of development at MUW. "We are so grateful to the Threadgill family for making this performance possible."
Tickets are free and can be reserved by contacting the MUW Foundation at 662-329-7148. Donations to the MUW Foundation will be accepted.
