Lt. Col. Henry “Lee” Moton retired from the United States Air Force after 32 years of Active Duty Service June 6, with an effective date of October 1, 2014. Moton was born in Aberdeen July 12, 1962. He is the son of Kattie M. Anderson of Hamilton.
He graduated with honors from Hamilton High School in May 1980 and received a scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science degree (summa cum laude) in accounting from National College, Rapid City, South Dakota in November 1991.
In June 1995, he earned a Master of Science degree in management from Troy State University. He has finished coursework for a PhD in organization management with a 4.0 GPA and is currently working on his dissertation.
Moton’s professional military education includes: Noncommissioned Officer Preparatory School (distinguished graduate), 1985; Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School (distinguished graduate), 1987; Noncommissioned Officer Academy School (distinguished graduate and academic award), 1990; Squadron Officer School (SOS), 1998; Air Space Basic Course (ASBC), 2002; Air Command and Staff College, 2003; Joint Forces Staff College, 2004; and Air War College (AWC-excellent graduate), 2007.
Accomplishments include six time CGOQ winner, 18 MSS and 18 SPTG CGOY winner, 18 MSS and 18 SPTG Information Manager of the Year, three time winner of Right of Line Flight for Squadron Officer College (SOC), two time winner of coveted Chief of Staff Flight for SOC, AIA Senior Personnel Manager of the Year and ACC Senior Personnel Manager of the Year.
In addition, he is a war veteran, having served in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraq Freedom and Operation New Dawn while fighting the war on terrorism.
