The Starkville Area Arts Council is hosting a group exhibition entitled the Holiday Showcase at the Greater Starkville Development Partnership at 200 Main St. in downtown Starkville. The show will run from Nov. 3 through Jan. 5, 2015, with an opening reception on Nov. 6 from 5:30-7 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the reception.
There is no theme for this show, so there will be a wide variety of artwork for viewing and for sale ranging from photographs, sculptures, ceramic works, stained glass and paintings, to other types of artwork, with most pieces priced at $350 or less. The show features affordable works by noted local artists including Mike Box, Laurie Burton, Libby Cagle, Linda Cambre, Kathryn Davis, Walter Diehl, Fay Fisher, Wanda Hunter, Briar Jones, Dylan Karges, Kat Lawrence, Duane Lyon, Joe MacGown, Michelle Neumann and Kathryn Ramsey.
Twenty percent of all proceeds go to the Starkville Arts Association to help fund various art-related events in Starkville.
As an added bonus, renowned classical guitarist Stephanie Jackson will perform live during the opening reception Thursday. She will have CDs of her music available for sale.
The winner of the 2015 Cotton District poster design will be announced. The poster will be unveiled during the opening.
This exhibition is funded in part by grants from the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, The Mississippi Arts Commission, The National Endowment for the Arts and Chalet Arts.
