Itawamba Community College in Fulton presents its 19th annual bluegrass concert and barbecue on Saturday, Feb. 28 beginning at 4 p.m. in the Davis Event Center.
Performers at “Bluegrass and Bar-B-Que” will be five-time Grammy nominee Rhonda Vincent, Dailey & Vincent, Gene Watson and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.
This year’s event will benefit the Itawamba Community College Foundation Inc.
The Missouri-born Vincent was once dubbed the “new Queen of Bluegrass” by the Wall Street Journal. The singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has won numerous Bluegrass Music Association awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Song of the Year and Recorded Event of the Year. She has repeatedly been honored by the BMA as Female Vocalist of the Year.
Watson’s career in music began in the 1970s. The Texan is credited with two No. 1 country songs, more than 20 Top 10s and at least 75 charted singles. His 2014 album, “My Heroes Have Always Been Country,” has been cited by some critics as one of the year’s best. Watson was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012 and into the inaugural class of the Houston Music Hall of Fame in 2013.

Doors open Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. General admission tickets are $20 and must be purchased online at iccms.edu/tickets. Reserved tickets, which are $25, must be purchased in person at Davis Ford in Fulton or by calling 662-862-3711. Barbecue plates will be available from 3-5 p.m., and tickets, which are $10, must be purchased in advance at iccms.edu/tickets. The Fulton campus is located approximately 63 miles north of Columbus.
