The Friends of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library opens its upcoming Table Talk series with a visit by author Michael Kardos. The MSU associate professor of English will discuss his recently-released mystery thriller “Before He Finds Her” on Wednesday, April 1.
Kardos, whose previous novel “The Three-Day Affair” was named by Esquire magazine as one of the best novels of 2012, is also the winner of the Institute of Mississippi Arts and Letters’ best fiction award for his short story collection “One Last Good Time.”
Tapped in February as a “big breakout author” by the Library Journal, Kardos is already receiving praise from reviewers. The New York Times Book Review calls his novel “a well-crafted girl-in-peril narrative with an uncommon premise and an ending you don’t see coming” The Irish Independent notes that Kardos’ “second thriller propels him into the front rank of contemporary American thriller writers.”
“We are delighted to host Michael and hear about how he created this tense, high-stakes, multi-perspective novel,” said Friends member Jo Shumake. “I’ve attended his Redbud Reading Series events in Starkville and have enjoyed meeting the new authors he introduces. Now we’re looking forward to introducing him to our Table Talk series.”
Table Talks will be presented on Wednesdays in April at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library, 314 Seventh St. N. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for those wishing to bring their lunch and socialize before the program begins at noon. The Friends will serve iced tea.
