JACKSON — The Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson will offer free admission Tuesday, May 19, as part of the Association of Art Museum Directors’ Art Museum Day. The event coincides with International Museum Day.
Art Museum Day underscores the critical role art museums play as cultural resources in their communities and celebrates the unique opportunities AAMD member museums offer visitors to engage with works of art. This year, Mississippi Museum of Art is presenting free admission to exhibitions The Eudora Welty Biennial: Classical Mississippi and The Mississippi Story, as well as self-guided art-making activities for visitors.
“We’re delighted to participate in AAMD’s Art Museum Day,” said Betsy Bradley, Director of the Mississippi Museum of Art. “Continuing to be accessible to all members of our community is integral to our mission of engaging Mississippians in the visual arts, and echoes our mantra of being a museum without walls.”
The Museum is located at 380 South Lamar Street in Jackson. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. The Museum is closed Monday.
