Itawamba Community College sophomore Michael-Ryan T. Lowe of Columbus participated in a recent promotion ceremony for the Health, Equity and Leadership Initiative Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Lowe took part in leadership development programs, completed required assignments and projects and was mentored by medical professionals during the five-month program. The 2015 ICC graduate is a pre-medicine major. Activities include Science Club, Political Science Club, Foreign Language Club, resident assistant and Shiloh Childcare Ministry volunteer.
The Health Equity Leadership Institute funded by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation offers leadership development and health career exploration among underrepresented males in two-year community colleges in Mississippi.
Lowe is one of only two participants selected.
