Each year, the Starkville Area Arts Council holds an annual fundraising gala and silent auction.
“With this year’s gala, ‘A Night of the Arts,’ we will be bringing an exciting, interactive experience with the arts to our patrons,” said Christie Cater of the SAAC. “Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, guests will be entertained by a variety of art experiences including a live exhibition, musical guests and a silent auction including works of art donated by many local artists.”
The evening also includes cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres by Brian Michael’s Catering Co.
“This formal event is a great way to kick off the approaching holiday season and support the arts in the Starkville area,” Cater said.
Proceeds from the gala will help the arts council work toward its mission of promoting the essential value of the arts — music, dance, theater, literature and the visual arts — for the cultural, educational, social, ethnic and economic vitality of the Starkville area.
SAAC produces multiple events including the Cotton District Arts Festival and the Magnolia Film Festival, organizes art experiences in the community including Art in the Park, Art in Public Places, Starkville Art Walk and the Barn Quilt Trail, and awards grants and scholarships annually totaling about $30,000.
The gala held at the Hunter Henry Center on the Mississippi State University campus is cocktail/formal attire. Tickets are $75 each. For information about purchasing tickets or donating pieces to the silent auction, contact the SAAC office, 662-324-3080.
