A Columbus Wellness Day will be held Saturday, April 9 from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle Outpatient Pavilion. All residents of Lowndes County are encouraged to come by for fitness and nutrition demonstrations, free health screenings including hearing, blood pressure, diabetes and BMI, as well as fire safety education and fun family activities. There is no fee to attend.
The first 200 attending the event sponsored by Mississippi University for Women’s Passport to Wellness program and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle will receive a free T-shirt. Door prizes will be available.
The Passport to Wellness program is made possible through a grant from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation. Geared toward educating participants and encouraging action, the program addresses the problem of unhealthy lifestyle choices related to diet, physical activity and stress management.
The Columbus Wellness Day challenges the community to get moving and make healthier decisions.
If interested in volunteering, contact Santee Ezell at [email protected] or call 662-329-7159.
In case of rain, Wellness Day activities will move to the hospital’s Conference Center.
