Peace Project kickoff — The Columbus Arts Council introduces The Peace Project: a Season of Peace from 8-10 a.m. during the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market in Columbus. Paint peace rocks, make original “peace doves.” Mother Goose story at 9 a.m. Peace Project events throughout the season will include an open mic, a writing project and a spoken word open mic. Hazard Lecture Series — This series marks its 25th anniversary with two free lectures exploring “The Voyage of the Mind.” On Sept. 12, Dr. Art Cox speaks on “Innovations in Medicine: Emerging Techniques in Facial Surgery.” On Sept. 19, Margaret Mary Henry speaks on “A Window on Russia: A Local Scholar Reports.” Both events are at 7 p.m. at the Heritage Academy Elementary Student Activity Building, 625 Magnolia Lane.
