Main Street Columbus and the Columbus Arts Council will present the first Market Street Festival Juried Arts Exhibit at the 15th annual festival in downtown Columbus May 7-8.
Deadline for applications has been extended to April 1. Categories include Painting/Drawing, 3D Art and Photography. Artists 18 and older may submit up to three works per medium, for a $30 fee. Additional mediums may be submitted.
Prize money awarded will include $500 to Best in Show; $300 for a People''s Choice Award; $200 for first place in each of the three categories; and $100 for second place.
Participating artists who also have vendor booths in the festival will be featured in the "Fine Arts Marketplace" next to the "Hands On Market" outside the Rosenzweig Arts Center May 8 during the festival.
"We''re putting art at your fingertips," said CAC director Rachel Hurt. "Don''t miss being part of this exciting event."
Artwork must have been completed within the last three years and must arrive framed, ready to hang or install. Maximum dimensions are 48 inches in any direction, including frames. Weight cannot exceed 100 pounds.
Artists are asked to send a CD with jpeg images of artwork. Pieces chosen from submitted slides or jpegs must be hand-delivered to the Rosenzweig Arts Center at 501 Main St. no later than noon May 7.
