The reverence of the Easter season has inspired Wesley United Methodist Church in Columbus and its Associate Pastor, the Rev. Pamela Cameron, to offer a new, meditative experience for the community during Holy Week.

"Reflection Experiences will consist of 11 meditation stations set up in classrooms and in the Wesley sanctuary at 511 Airline Road," said Cameron. "You can walk through the stations at your own leisure."

Stations will vary.

"They will include a nature experience, manger experience, prayer wall, Israel experience, remembrance of baptism, rocks of burdens, mirrors and faces, Easter lilies, vinegar and sponge, at the foot of the cross and in God''s name experiences," explained Cameron, who originally got the idea from a friend in the clergy in Georgia.

"We just wanted to give everyone a chance to stop and have time with God during this Season of Lent," she added.

The stations will be open to the congregation and the public today from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. A candlelight communion service Wednesday begins at 6:30 p.m.; the stations will be open afterward until 8:30 p.m.

On Friday, a Tenebrae service takes place at 7 p.m., with the Reflections experiences open until 8:30 p.m.

Wesley United Methodist Church also welcomes the public to a glow-in-the-dark Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 3. The annual event begins at 7:30 p.m. on the church grounds.
