Lowndes County 4-H youth recently participated in the Northeast Regional and State 4-H Horse Shows in Starkville and Jackson. At the Regional Show June 10 at the Mississippi Horse Park in Starkville, Macy Willcutt and Claire Benson qualified to represent Lowndes County at the 2017 Mississippi State 4-H Horse Championships in Jackson. Willcutt placed first in Pole Bending, first in Barrel Racing and seventh in the Stake Race.
Benson placed seventh in Pole Bending, eighth in Barrel Racing and fifth in the Stake Race.
At the State Championships at the Kirk Fordice Equine Center in Jackson June 22-24, Willcutt placed fourth in Barrel Racing, seventh in Pole Bending and qualified to represent Mississippi and Lowndes County in the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships in Perry, Georgia, in late July.
At the state show, Benson placed 11th in the Stake Race. Lauren Revel placed fourth in the Mini Horse Trail course.
