The AmeriCorps VISTA Columbus Healthy Living Initiative invites families to join in a “Sun-day Funday” event Saturday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Townsend Community Center on 15th Street South in Columbus. Plan to arrive at 9:45 a.m.
Children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade will learn about mental and physical health, healthy eating, reading, safety and more.
Participants will read with Mother Goose, learn to make a healthy snack with Juva Juice, exercise with Kennedi Sanders, learn safety from Columbus Fire and Rescue and the Columbus Police Department, plus much more.
This event is free, but a parent or guardian 18 years old or older must stay with the child throughout the activities.
Registration forms are available at the Columbus Arts Council’s Rosenzweig Arts Center at 501 Main St. The “Funday” is limited to 100 children.
Sponsors include the Columbus-Lowndes Recreation Authority, Columbus Police Department, Columbus Fire and Rescue, Mother Goose, Juva and Jumpers.
