Christian Women’s Job Corps (CWJC) is currently accepting applications for its fall semester of job and life skills training. Classes begin Aug. 28.
CWJC, a ministry of the Golden Triangle Baptist Association and Woman’s Missionary Union, offers free educational training for women, unemployed or underemployed, who need additional skills for life and for securing and sustaining work.
CWJC training is open to women, regardless of religious beliefs or situations, in Clay, Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties. Program orientation and the first class will be Tuesday, Aug. 28. Classes will be conducted Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 28 through Nov. 13, from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. In addition, time will be scheduled for program participants to complete computer lab projects. A concluding program and celebration will held Nov. 15.
Helen Ward of Columbus, CWJC’s assistant site coordinator, said, “Women who think this training could be beneficial to them should call us as soon as possible. Due to limited seating in our computer lab and classroom, interested women need to register as soon as possible.”
For more detailed information about the program and how to apply, interested women should contact CWJC at 662-722-3016 or email [email protected].
Ward added, “We are excited about the excellent instructors we are continuing to secure for the fall semester. As in the past, we have highly qualified, professional volunteers who will be teaching our primary classes, as well as the enrichment classes, in an encouraging atmosphere.”
Classes will be held at the CWJC site in Starkville at 207 S. Lafayette St.
A faith-based program, CWJC provides participants guidance in gaining life and job skills that will help provide personal stability in these areas. Classes include nondenominational Bible study along with instruction in basic computer skills, communications, resume writing, interview preparation, money management, conflict and anger management, marriage and family living, time management, decision making and preparations for meaningful employment.
“CWJC is an effective ‘women helping women’ initiative,” said Ward. “All of our volunteers strive to offer women acceptance, hope and restoration in a Christ-honoring environment. It is a life-changing experience for those who are seeking to improve their job skills and their life situations.”
