"Let It Shine: A Visit with Fannie Lou Hamer" -- Sharon Miles' one-woman show on civil rights figure Fanny Lou Hamer comes to Starkville Community Theatre's Playhouse on Main, 108 E. "Cinderella" -- Mississippi State's Lyceum Series presents The Russian National Ballet's "Cinderella" at 7 p.m. at Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium on campus. Get tickets at events.msstate.edu ($30; $12 children).  

 

 

 

Wednesday, Feb. 20 

 

The Orators -- Mississippi State's Shackouls Honors College continues The Orators lecture series at 2 p.m. with Melvin Rogers of Brown University speaking on "Democratic Faith in Dark Times" in the Forum Room of Griffis Hall on campus. Magnolia Independent Film Festival -- The 22nd annual Mag Film Fest presents 32 films by indie filmmakers from around the world at Hollywood Premier Cinemas in Starkville. Symphony and chorus -- The Starkville-MSU Symphony Orchestra and Chorus present Masterworks at 7:30 p.m. in Mississippi State's Lee Hall Auditorium. This season centerpiece includes the performance of "Roman Carnival Overture" by Hector Berlioz, and "Ninth Symphony" by Ludwig von Beethoven. Free to the public.
