The Columbus Arts Council wants to “Put a Spell on You” Friday, Oct. 29, in the Rosenzweig Arts Center”s Omnova Theater.
Golden Triangle performers will have a little spine-tingling fun with readings and song selections that range from “I Don”t Stand a Ghost of a Chance,” sung by Margaret Mary Henry, to “Black Magic Woman,” with Joseph St. John and Larry Priest.
Throw in “Witchy Woman,” the “Munster Rag,” “That Old Black Magic” and many more, and the night has the makings of a Halloween romp. The current lineup includes sisters Cherri and Madeline Golden, Monty Yates, Shane Tubbs and Daniel Lawson, Rob Harland, Linda Bobbitt, Dana Clark and Michelle Clark and Steven Seagraves.
Purple wigs and witches” cauldrons are a far cry from Mississippi State University employees Cherri and Madeline Golden”s daily props. But the accounting assistant and budget analyst, respectively, have no trouble getting into character.
“It”s always fun performing with your sister,” smiled Cherri, who lives in Columbus. “We love singing together.” They will perform “What is That Feeling?” from “Wicked,” “Freak Flag” from “Shrek,” and “Sisters” from “White Christmas.”
“We”ve had some great performers volunteer, plus we”ve got a few tricks up our sleeves,” said event coordinator Beverly Norris. “This theme night should be a lot of fun. We encourage the audience to get ”in the spirit” of things and come in costume.”
Tickets are $10 in advance at the Rosenzweig Arts Center, 501 Main St., in downtown Columbus, or $12 at the door. Seating is limited; advance tickets are recommended. Beverages, snacks and set-ups will be available.
