Laura Gray Teekell and John Robert McCann of Memphis, Tennessee, were married June 7, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Christian Currie of Shreveport officiating. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judson Gray Teekell of Shreveport. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byrum Webster Teekell of Shreveport, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Bryden Pease Jr. of Gulfport. She was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. She wore an ivory Vera Wang gown of tulle and silk organza with floating Chantilly lace appliqués and a soft blossom flange skirt, paired with a waltz-length Toni Federici veil with Chantilly lace detail. She also wore an antique lavalier necklace worn by four generations of her mother’s family. Dr. Anna Teekell Hays, sister of the bride, of Ewing, Virginia, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Lauren Glass Etier of Birmingham, Alabama; Miss Elizabeth Patterson Grozinger of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Mrs. Marion Frierson Kacos of Shreveport; Mrs. Meredith Jones Kinsley of Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs Stefanie Adams Petet of Dallas; Mrs. Laura Williamson Robinson of Memphis, Tennessee; and Dr. Rene Weller Ulm of Memphis. The groom is a son of Mrs. Robert Stewart Caldwell Jr. of Columbus, and Mr. Thomas Mitchell McCann of Peachtree City, Georgia. He is a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Roy Newsom of Potts Camp, and the late Mrs. George Clinton Eaton and the late Mr. Thomas Gladney McCann of Columbus. Lt. Col. Thomas Gladney McCann of Kailua, Hawaii, served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Jerald Bretton Beauchamp of Oxford; Mr. James Alan Borland of Wilmette, Illinois; Dr. Jason Reid Brown of Ridgeland; Mr. Michael Shannon Cooley, Mr. Douglas Frank Halijan and Mr. William Lester Jones Jr., all of Memphis; and Mr. James Phillip Wilson Jr. of Columbus. Following a honeymoon to Key West, Florida, the couple resides in Memphis.
