WEDDING

Rachael Bell Beard
and Robert Thomas Elmore

Rachael Bell Beard of Columbus and Robert Thomas Elmore of Ridgeland were married August 7, 2010, at 6 p.m. at Main Street Presbyterian Church in Columbus, with the Rev. David Strain officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stephenson Beard of Columbus. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Wilbur Hanks of Lula, and Mrs. Fred L. Beard and the late Mr. Beard of Columbus. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore her mother’s wedding gown of ivory chiffon, embellished with Portugal lace and accented with pearls, and extending into a floor-length train. Her cathedral-length veil was also accented with Portugal lace and pearls. The bridal bouquet was of orchids, roses and hydrangeas. Victoria Beard Rhett, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Ashley Owen Beard of Indianapolis, Ind.; Ann Carter Thomas of Vail, Colo.; Emily Lott Walton of Tunica; Trish Abraham Rodgers of Greenwood; Jaclyn Epris Blankenship of New York, N.Y.; Cayce Cunningham Ryan of Memphis, Tenn.; and Allison Brooke Jacob of Memphis. Attendants wore off-the-shoulder gowns of black European satin, with gathered bodices, and carried bouquets of roses and hydrangeas. Georgia Bell Beard of Indianapolis; Savanna Faye Elmore of Madison; and Jeanette Evans Rhett and Emma Jane Rhett, both of Columbus, served as flower girls. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce William Hart of Lamar, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Swedland Elmore of West Point. He is the grandson of Mrs. Norma Brandow of Mesa, Ariz., and the late Mr. Kenneth Brandow, and the late Mr. Giles Elmore of Sun City, Ariz., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Blunk of Glendale, Ariz. Thomas Swedland Elmore, father of the groom, and Matthew Swedland Elmore, the groom’s son, served as best men. John Stephenson Beard Jr. of Indianapolis; Christopher Arrington Rhett of Columbus; Carlyle Smith Harris Jr. of Tupelo; and Andrew John Bond of Madison served as groomsmen. John Caleb Harris of Tupelo served as ring bearer. Following a wedding trip to Sea Island, Ga., the couple resides in Ridgeland.
