Lelia LaNelle Burkhalter and James Hunter Ferguson were married July 7, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at Paris-Yates Chapel on the campus of the University of Mississippi, with Dr. Robert Self officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert David Burkhalter Jr. of Batesville. She is the granddaughter of the late Robert David Burkhalter of Enid, the late Ann Womack Burkhalter Smith of Greenville, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Tippit of Pope. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of ivory re-embroidered Alencon lace with a sweetheart neckline enhanced with pleated English net. She wore her sister’s cathedral-length veil and pearl drop earrings. Her hand-tied bouquet of antique garden roses, snowflake roses, hydrangea, tulips and freesia in shades of white was adorned with a monogrammed vintage handkerchief and pinned with her late grandmother’s antique broach. Laura Burkhalter Newsom, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Elizabeth Ann Evans, cousin of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Margaret Britt Baker, Lauran Booth Ellis, Frances Terry Farris, Julie Still Jeffreys, Anne Elizabeth Kincade, Meagan Ashlee Michell, Mallory Nix Trout, Katherine Elizabeth Olivi, Jacqueline Poe Simpson, Jordan Elizabeth Thomas, Laura Beth Trapp and Patricia Elizabeth Webb. Flower girls were Emily Kathryn Van Uden and Mattison Staten Sanders. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Daniel Ferguson of Columbus. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ferguson Sr. of Hernando, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Loyd Carson of Ashland. The groom’s father served as best man. Serving as groomsmen were Eric Scott Ivers, Douglas Lee Love III, Joshua Glenn Newsom, Christopher Arrington Rhett, Robert Thomas Rich, James Taylor Russell, Alan Patrick Trapp, Joe McPherson Trout, Nathan Patrick Shappley, Jordan Hunter Sumrall, Samuel Walter Wilcox and James Douglas Woodruff III. Reid Matthew Sanders served as ring bearer. Following a wedding trip to the Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Hernando, where the bride is employed with DeSoto County Schools as a school counselor, and the groom is an operations analyst with Regions Insurance Group in Memphis, Tenn.
