STARKVILLE - MSU was ranked 11th in the latest Bowl Championship Series standings released Sunday evening.
The rankings are the second edition of the 2012 season and represent the selection process to find the two teams that will play for the 2013 National Championship game in Miami. The BCS standings are made up of three elements including the coaches' poll, the Harris Poll and the average of six computer rankings.
The SEC was the league represented most at the top of the BCS standings, placing six schools in the top 13 and seven in the top 25.
MSU's ranking ties for the school's second-best ranking since the system was adapted in 1999. MSU's highest ranking was 10th on Nov. 8, 1999.
The Bulldogs (7-0, 3-0 in SEC) still have yet to play anybody ranked in either poll during the 2012 schedule and won't face a ranked team until they face defending national champions University of Alabama this Saturday (7:30 p.m., ESPN) in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Both ESPN.com and CBS Sports currently have MSU projected to play in the Cotton Bowl at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on New Year's Eve against Texas Tech University.
