Three Mississippi State University players earned national honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association Wednesday.
Bulldogs junior outfielder Hunter Renfroe picked up another All-America team honor Wednesday and joined two other Bulldog players on the 2013 American Baseball Coaches Association All-South Region team.
Renfroe was a first-team selection on both the 2013 Rawlings/ABCA NCAA Division I All-American team and the ABCA All-South region team. Junior shortstop Adam Frazier and sophomore relief pitcher Jonathan Holder were second-team ABCA all-region selections.
Renfroe, a consensus All-American in 2013 and winner of the 2013 C Spire Ferriss Trophy in Mississippi, sports a .357 batting average heading into MSU's third game in the 2013 NCAA College World Series. Renfroe leads the team with 62 RBI and 34 extra-base hits, including 15 home runs. He was selected with the 13th overall pick of the 2013 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres.
Frazier, who shares the NCAA lead with a school-record 105 hits, leads the Bulldogs at the plate with a .360 batting average and 61 runs scored. He has hit safely in seven of MSU's eight NCAA Tournament games, including a school record-tying 6-for-6 plate performance in a Super Regional-opening win at Virginia. Frazier was drafted in the sixth round by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
MSU closer Jonathan Holder notched his 19th and 20th saves of the season in State's first two NCAA College World Series games and ranks fourth with 20 successful game-closing mound performances. Holder has saves in all four of his NCAA Tournament appearances and has fashioned a 2-0 record with a 1.26 earned run average in postseason play. In 32 appearances he's registered 86 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched.
