STARKVILLE - The mother of Mississippi State sophomore quarterback Dak Prescott died Sunday morning.
Peggy Prescott lost her long battle with colon cancer and leaves three children with Dak being the youngest of the trio. MSU's quarterback shaved his head prior to the 2013 season to support his mother's battle with cancer.
MSU coach Dan Mullen released a statement on the matter Monday morning:
"The Mississippi State football family is completely saddened by the passing of Dak Prescott's mom, Peggy," Mullen said in a statement through university media relations. "They shared an extraordinary mother-son relationship. We know Dak will carry on her great strength and kindness. Please pray for Dak and his family as they go through this difficult time. We also kindly ask that you please respect their privacy."
