HOW BOTH TEAMS GOT HERE: Mississippi State (37-22, 17-13), the defending national runner-up, finished third in the Southeastern Conference Western Division after finishing the SEC tournament at 2-2. San Diego State (42-19, 17-13) won the 2014 Mountain West Conference tournament and have won nine of their last 11 games.

PITCHER: Trevor Fitts, Jr. RHP (4-3, 2.51 ERA, 15 starts, 64.2 IP, 12 BB, 56 K) - Fitts has the most starts of the 2014 season with 15 but hasn't gone further than 6 2/3 innings in any start. In Fitts' last three starts (vs. Tennessee, at Alabama and vs. South Carolina) he has not gotten out of the fourth inning and this move by the MSU coaching staff would suggest a major role for arguably the SEC's best reliever Jacob Lindgren.

SAN DIEGO STATE STARTING PITCHER: Mark Seyler (8-5, 3.99 ERA, 14 starts, 82.1 IP, 31 BB, 57 K) - The 6-foot-2, 180-pound righty competed for the Palm Springs Power of the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League during the summer of 2013. His father Tom played baseball at University of San Diego and later in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
