Between practices Tuesday afternoon, Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen was asked about junior quarterback Dak Prescott's mental maturation heading into his first year as a starter. Naturally, Mullen's answer was about cars.
"We want to give Dak a sports car," said Mullen, referring to the Bulldog offense in 2014. "How fast he drives it is up to his decision making, his confidence, his repetition. My expectation is perfection. Now, can you ever get to perfection? Probably not. But if you strive for that, you can become great."
Asked where Prescott and the MSU offense are at on the sports car scale right now, Mullen added "Probably a pickup truck."
Down on the Farm
The Bulldogs practiced for the first time in full pads on Monday, and two-a-days continued on Tuesday. MSU worked out at the university's South Farm, affectionately known as The Farm, Tuesday morning with another practice scheduled for late Tuesday afternoon.
"There's not one place out there with shade," said Mullen. "No matter which angle you get, no matter where you are, there's no shade anywhere."
