Friday night schedule for MSU commitments

The 2014 high school football begins for most MHSAA schools and players on Friday night. Of its current commitment list that includes 27 prospects, Mississippi State boasts 14 that will open their senior seasons tonight. This is a list of times and locations for all 14. 




Jamal Peters, Bassfield 


Safety 6-3, 200 


At Seminary, 7 p.m. 


A consensus 4-star prospect, Mississippi State's highest-rated commitment will lead Bassfield in search of a third-straight Class 2A state title. 




Malik Dear, Jackson Murrah 


Athlete 5-9, 210 


vs. Hazelhurst, 7 p.m. 


A multi-purpose threat who could play multiple positions at MSU, Dear posted 2,093 yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior. 




Tim Washington, Yazoo City 


LB 6-3, 200 


vs. Velma Jackson, 7 p.m. 


The versatile defensive end/linebacker collected 67 tackles and 7.5 sacks as a junior. 




Tommy Champion, Jackson Callaway 


OT 6-5, 285 


At Forest Hill, 7 p.m. 


Champion will anchor a Callaway line that has produced multiple D1 prospects in recent years. 




Dontae Jones, Louisville 


WR 6-4, 220 


Vs. Jackson-Jim Hill 


The Wildcats' leading WR finished Saturday's scrimmage against West Point with five catches for 54 yards and a touchdown. 




Cameron Myers, Oak Grove 


Athlete 6-2, 200 




Myers and the defending 6A champs will open at Wayne County next Friday. 




Chris Stamps, Warren Central 


CB 6-1, 170 


vs. Terry, 6 p.m. 


Stamps, one of MSU's earliest 2015 commitments, delivered 48 tackles and five interceptions as a junior. 




Mark McLaurin, Collins 


Safety 6-3, 200 


vs. Taylorsville, 7 p.m. 


Playing QB for Collins, McLaurin finished with 2,465 yards and 28 touchdowns as a junior. 




Keith Joseph, Jr., Pascagoula 


DE 6-3, 235 


vs. Moss Point, 7 p.m. 


Joseph, the son of former Bulldog Keith Joseph, was responsible for 67 tackles and five sacks in 2013. 




Jarvis Wilson, Tupelo 


Safety 6-2, 197 


at Lafayette, 7 p.m. 


Wilson will attempt to help the Golden Wave repeat a 2013 run to the Class 6A state championship game. 




Farrod Green, Wesson 


TE 6-4, 223 


at Lawrence County, 7 p.m. 


Green, who plays WR at Wesson, likely projects to tight end at MSU.
