Hunter Renfroe likely to sign contract this week with San Diego Padres

The Dispatch MSU Sports Blog has learned from sources close to the situation that the Mississippi State junior outfielder and the Padres organization are simply waiting for a date to sign contract.

(UPDATED) LB Chris Hughes still in jail awaiting trail for third domestic violence charge; Hughes no longer a member of the MSU football team

Linebacker Chris Hughes, who was suspended indefinitely from the MSU football team last week, is still currently in Mobile (Ala.) County jail awaiting trial for his third domestic violence charge in a two-year span. MSU officials haver confirmed via MSU coach Dan Mullen that Hughes is no longer a member of the MSU football program.

For the first time in school history, Mississippi State will play for a national championship after its 4-1 victory Friday over Oregon State University in the bracket championship contest. The Bulldogs will start the championship series in Omaha on Monday.
