A 14-year-old Columbus Middle School student was arrested Tuesday after he was found hiding in a New Hope Middle School bathroom waiting to fight another student.
The boy, whose identity was not released by the Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office, was able to get on a New Hope school bus at Barclay Drive that morning.
He rode to the school, where was able to hide in a bathroom, said Chief Deputy Greg Wright. The boy asked other students to find the student and tell him to meet in the bathroom. He was found by faculty members, who called the sheriff”s office.
The boy was charged with trespassing, giving false information to a law enforcement officer, and disturbing a public school meeting.
Lowndes County Schools Superintendent Mike Halford said an investigation is being conducted to determine whether the bus driver should be disciplined.
