Lowndes County District 4 Supervisor Jeff Smith reported 25 campaign signs, worth $500, missing today in two neighborhoods off of Highway 45 South.
The signs were taken overnight from the Whistling Pines and Plum Grove neighborhoods.
Smith filed a report with the Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office early today and said he plans to also report the incident to the Secretary of State”s office.
“Crazy things happen during election time,” Smith said. “I don”t think any (of my opponents) would be in favor of this taking place.”
Smith”s opponents in the Democratic primary, Anthony Sanders and Howard Smart, did not immediately return calls seeking comment. They have no Republican challengers.
