A masked man armed with a black handgun robbed Roy”s Grocery on Waterworks Road Sunday evening, according to Columbus police.
The man walked into the grocery store at 515 Waterworks Road at about 5 p.m. Sunday and told the two employees he would shoot them unless they gave him the money from the cash register, said Police Public Information Officer Terrie Songer.
He took the money from the cash register, $60 from an employee”s purse and the store phone before fleeing on foot east down Fifth Avenue North, Songer said.
The suspect was described by police as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 160 pounds, and wearing a green hat, blue jean shorts, black boots with white fur trim and a purple bandanna across his face.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151. Tips that lead to arrests could be worth up to $1,000.
