Bond has been set at $5,000 for the 55-year-old Columbus man accused of hacking another man at least six times with a machete Saturday.
William, Lewis Ross, of 1419 20th St. N., Apt. 7, was arrested at his residence at about midnight Saturday after he attacked 47-year-old Anthony “Tony” Williams, according to police.
Both men had been drinking heavily at Ross” apartment, according to police — so heavily they”re telling police they don”t even remember what started the argument.
But police do know that the attack happened just outside the apartment, where Ross is thought to have taken the machete to Williams, who lives nearby in the 1100 block of 15th Street North.
After receiving at least three wounds to his head and three to his hands, Williams wrested the machete from Ross and went to friends” neighboring house and asked them to call an ambulance for him.
Both men had been covered in Williams” blood when officers arrived at the scene, according to officers and neighbors.
Williams was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where he was treated and released Sunday.
