Two Lowndes County men pulled a man from a burning car and became hometown heroes Sunday.
Mickey Brislin was driving home on Matson Road Sunday evening when he saw victim Gregory Gabriel pinned under a car with its engine on fire.
He and off-duty Mississippi Highway Patrolman Derrick Beckom, who lived nearby, pulled Gabriel from the car just before it exploded.
The Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office is still investigating the wreck and its cause.
Brislin confirmed the details Tuesday morning, but declined to comment further until after the workday.
