A 58-year-old Renton, Wash., man accused of convincing a Caledonia woman to send him pornographic photographs of her two young sons has turned himself in to local deputies.
Toby Scott Rasco, of 16519 146th Ave. S.E. in Renton, Wash., turned himself in Thursday at the Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office and was out the same day on a $50,000 bond.
Rasco and his brother, who is a police officer in Washington, drove to Lowndes County rather than wait for extradition, said LCSO Investigator Tony Cooper. They returned home Thursday because Rasco has medical problems.
He”ll be back Aug. 15 in Lowndes County Circuit Court to face a charge of exploitation of a minor. If convicted, he could get up to 40 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
Rasco allegedly had an online relationship with 41-year-old Angela Shoemake of 276 Wells Drive in Caledonia, and convinced her to send him photographs of her 8- and 6-year-old sons.
Shoemake was sentenced in federal court in April to 30 years in prison for using a minor to produce pornography and distributing pornography.
Her guilty plea, which she filed in October 2010, was part of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.
She still faces two counts of child exploitation in Lowndes County Circuit Court this year.
Shoemake”s sons are currently staying with relatives, according to sheriff”s deputies.
