The Columbus Fire and Rescue was busy Wednesday night and early this morning, putting out three minor fires.
Capt. Randy Rhodes, of Station 1, said at approximately 11:03 p.m. last night, the department responded to a call of an ice machine on fire outside a structure at 1202 Fourth St. S. The cause of the fire is still undetermined, but Rhodes said it is believed to be mechanical in nature, and there was no damage to the adjacent structure.
At 2:10 a.m. today, the department was called out again to a car fire at 404 23rd St. S. The cause of that fire is still under investigation.
Shortly afterwards, at 2:53 a.m., the department responded to a small grass fire in a wooded area at 19th St. N. and the railroad tracks. Rhodes said the cause of that fire is still undetermined.
