Roberts to serve as Mississippi Bar Foundation president-elect
Ronald “Ronny” L. Roberts of Columbus has been elected to serve as president-elect of the Mississippi Bar Foundation for 2011-2012. Roberts received a Bachelor of Arts from Mississippi State University in 1975 and his Juris Doctor with distinction from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Delta Phi, Appellate Chairman (1976-1977) and Moot Court Board. Roberts also was a part of the Harvard Law School Mediation Program of Instruction and Pepperdine University School of Law Advanced Mediation Training.
The Foundation inducted Roberts as a fellow in 2007. He is currently on the Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Lowndes County Bar Association, Mississippi Board of Bar Commissioners and is a Mississippi University for Women Paralegal Advisory Board member. Roberts chaired The Mississippi Bar”s Budget Committee and Fee Dispute Committee, and has served as a member of the Executive Committee and Alternative Dispute Resolution Section.
Roberts practices alternative dispute resolution, business/commercial litigation, general litigation and insurance for Mitchell, McNutt and Sams.
MDOT recognizes committed workers
Recently the Mississippi Department of Transportation recognized its District 1 employees who have committed years of service to the agency, according to District Engineer Bill Jamieson. Recognized for five years of service were Will Rogers of Lowndes County, Floyd Bell of Clay County, and Gerald Pounders of Monroe County. Christopher Mitchell and James L. Jennings have both served 10 years in Oktibbeha County.
Northern District Transportation Commis-sioner Mike Tagert was on hand to commend the employees for their professionalism and diligence in providing transportation services.
