A dermatology office is locating on Leigh Drive in Columbus.
The Columbus Planning Commission last week unanimously approved a request to rezone 1.12 acres of property on Leigh Drive from an A-1 general agricultural district to a C1-R neighborhood commercial-restricted district.
On behalf of the Leigh Foundation Inc., Frances Lee McCarty noted the property, which is adjacent to existing ReMax offices, will be purchased for use as a dermatology office. Leigh Drive connects Bluecutt Road to the back of the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle campus.
Additionally, the commission unanimously approved a request from Sonya F. Maddox to allow a child day care facility at 2703 14th Ave. N.
A day care facility previously was housed on the property.
The commission also issued approval of a final review of a subdivision plat, pending final approval from the city engineer.
A representative of River Dreams, LLC explained the 5-acre subdivision, to be located at 276 Island Road, will include six residential lots along the river, three lots located “off the river” and one residential plot along Island Road.
The property is in an R-1 single-family residential district.
