Three additional suspects turned themselves in this afternoon in connection with a shooting Sunday afternoon on Fifth Street South in Columbus.
One man was taken into custody on Sunday, and Columbus police were seeking three others.
Interim Police Chief Selvain McQueen said at approximately 12:11 p.m. Sunday, officers received a report of men shooting at one another between the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Fifth Street South. There were no injuries, but between 20 and 30 shell casings were recovered from the area.
Derak Walls, 22, of 1414 Seventh St. N., was arrested at 7:25 p.m. Sunday on three counts of aggravated assault.
Police also charged three brothers with the shooting incident: Izell Turner, 29, of 2001 Shannon Ave.; Phillip Turner, 24, of 300 Lehmberg Road., Apt. 56; and Malcolm Turner, 22, of 500 Greentree Drive, Apt. B-9.
McQueen said the incident is believed to have been sparked by an altercation at the Grey Goose nightclub on 22nd Street North, between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Sunday.
“We don”t know at this point if we”ve gotten everyone we”re going to arrest,” McQueen said.
