Columbus Police faced a litany of aliases and a suspect with no pants when they were called out to a burglary in progress Thursday night.
Interim police chief Selvain McQueen said Kamesha Cribbs, 32, of 1106 5th Ave. N., called at 11:25 p.m. to report someone had kicked in her back door and was inside the house. When police arrived, they found the back door open and glass on the steps. They were met at the front door by Cribbs and Kelvin Roland, 21, of 2407 23rd Ave. N.
Inside the house, in a child”s room, they found Prentiss Jones, 26, of 603 19th St. N., lying in bed, wearing only his underwear and socks, feigning sleep. Jones claimed to be “John Demario Jones.”
Roland, who was wanted on previous charges by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, assumed the alias of “Darion Cribbs.”
Upon searching the premises further, police discovered drug paraphernalia.
Roland was arrested and charged with giving false information to a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and contempt of court.
Jones was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and giving false information to a police officer.
