Sixteenth Circuit Court judges have processed several cases during the current session of court in Lowndes County. The session began on last Monday and continues through Sept. 2.
Through Tuesday afternoon, judges handed down the following sentences:
- Christopher Gandy of 103 Fifth Ave. N. in Columbus pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and was sentenced by Judge Jim Kitchens to 16 years at the Mississippi Department of Corrections, suspended, with five years of probation.
- Heather Suggs of 5983 Highway 50 E. in Steens pleaded guilty to sale of Alprazolam (used to treat anxiety) and was sentenced by Judge Lee Coleman to 12 years at the MDOC, suspended, with five years of probation.
- Charles V. Jones of 528 MLK Drive in Columbus pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of ID and was sentenced by Kitchens to five years at the MDOC, suspended pending the successful completion of one year in the intensive supervision program, and four years of probation.
- Clarissa Hollis of 808 Cypress St. in Columbus pleaded guilty to false pretense and was sentenced by Kitchens to five years at the MDOC, suspended, with five years of probation. She also was ordered to pay a $100 fine and $807.13 in restitution.
- Charles Alton Burns of 122 Matson Road in Columbus pleaded guilty to domestic violence, third offense, and was sentenced by Kitchens to five years at the MDOC, with four years suspended and four years of post-release supervision. He also was ordered to pay a $500 fine.
- Jennifer Cockrell of 1010 Second St. N. pleaded guilty to two of four counts of fraudulent use of ID; the two other counts were retired based on the guilty plea. She was sentenced by Coleman to five years of non-adjudicated probation and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine and $892.72 in restitution.
- Britton C. Jones of 275 Circle 681 in Saltillo pleaded guilty to possession of amphetamine and was sentenced by Kitchens to five years of non-adjudicated probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and $250 in restitution.
- Kenneth Spencer of 2623 Fifth Ave. N. in Columbus pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced by Kitchens to eight years at the MDOC, suspended, with five years of probation. He also was ordered to pay a $250 fine and to serve six months in county jail.
- Ellen C. Davis of 218 Glendale Circle in Columbus pleaded guilty to embezzlement and was sentenced to Kitchens to 10 years at the MDOC, suspended, with five years of probation. She also was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, $2,7628.63 in restitution and must serve 24 weekends in jail.
- Randy Hood of 1213 Cowden Drive in Amory pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine precursors and was sentenced by Coleman to 20 years at the MDOC, with five years of post-release supervision. He also was ordered to pay a $500 fine.
- Kevin Clanton of 2005 Beaver Creek Road in Vernon, Ala. and was sentenced by Coleman to four years at the MDOC with five years of post-release supervision. He also was ordered to pay a $2,400 fine and $123 in restitution.
- Stacy Graves of 150 Mason Drive E. in Columbus withdrew a not-guilty plea and pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine precursors. Graves was sentenced by Kitchens to 20 years at the MDOC, suspended for five years, with 20 years of probation and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine.
- Mario Sykes of 3051 Highway 69 S., after three days of trial, pleaded guilty to grand larceny and escape. Sykes, who was declared a habitual offender, was sentenced by Kitchens to five years at the MDOC on the escape charge and five years for his third offense of shoplifting. The sentences will run consecutively.
- Albert David Chism of 1562 Steens Road in Steens pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced by Kitchens to one year at the MDOC to run consecutively with a 12-year sentence he already is serving for conspiracy to commit a crime.
- Kitchens revoked mandatory supervision for Alex Warren of 802 Eighth St. S. in Columbus because Warren violated the terms of his probation. He will serve three years at the MDOC for a charge of burglary of a dwelling, with five years of probation.
- Coleman revoked mandatory supervision for Tashawn Grassairee of 902 Ninth St. S. in Columbus because he violated the terms of his probation. He will serve eight years at the MDOC for possession of cocaine, with five years of probation.
