STARKVILLE — One Mississippi State University student was arrested and another is in serious guarded condition at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, following a Friday-night stabbing in the Cotton District.
At around 11:30 p.m., Starkville police responded to reports of a stabbing on the sidewalk near 701 University Drive. When they arrived, they found Joseph Ryan Davis, 21 — with a last-known address of 133 Booth Circle in Ocean Springs — suffering multiple stab wounds to his torso.
Davis was taken to the hospital, where he underwent surgery.
William Daniel Prince, 25, of 109 Locksley Way in Starkville, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, according to a statement issued Saturday afternoon by Starkville Police Chief David Lindley.
Prince is currently being held at the Clay County Jail pending a bond hearing.
The incident is still under investigation, and the motive is unknown at this time.
