A slammed door resulted in two Columbus men being transported to the hospital for stab wounds and another being taken to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center after a Saturday night argument turned violent.
Interim Columbus Police Chief Selvain McQueen said around 7 p.m., police were dispatched to 612 Ninth Ave. S. because of a domestic dispute between family members who lived in the house.
According to McQueen, the trouble began when Myquel Guiyton, 36, was confronted by his uncle, George Henley, 45, for allegedly slamming a door. When another family member, whom McQueen declined to name, attempted to intervene, Guiyton produced “either a very large knife or a sword.”
Guiyton and the other family member were both injured during the tussle.
Shortly afterwards, Henley walked outside to throw the weapon into the yard when Guiyton”s younger brother, Darold Guiyton, 27, allegedly grabbed another knife and stabbed Henley — his uncle — in the upper back.
Darold Guiyton was arrested and charged with domestic aggravated assault. Myquel Guiyton was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where he was treated for stab wounds to his head and released. Henley was also taken to BMH-GT, where he is expected to undergo surgery.
McQueen said additional arrests may be made, and the incident is still under investigation.
