PREVIOUSLY: Law enforcement authorities are conducting preliminary investigations in hopes of finding the whereabouts of Gloria Jean Davidson, 24.
According to Lowndes County Chief Deputy Greg Wright, Davidson, a black female, was last seen by her husband Monday morning after leaving to go to the East Mississippi Community College Mayhew campus.
Wright said her husband, Charles Davidson, made the report and said she left their home at 500 Greentree Drive Apt. Q76 Monday morning, but never returned.
“He’s made us aware that she hasn’t come home, and we’re in the process now of trying to come up with some further information regarding where her whereabouts could be,” Wright said. “We do have some additional information that we are not releasing right now.”
According to Wright, Gloria Davidson works as a substitute teacher for the Lowndes County School District.
“We’ve got some information regarding campuses that she’s worked at and (are looking into that),” Wright said, adding that there have been some domestic problems with the couple in the past.
According to Wright, there is not a set time frame for declaring a person “missing,” and this incident is not yet classified as a missing person investigation.
“If somebody calls in and we take a report of a person in an 8-12 hour timeframe of a person being missing, we’ll get some info and do some preliminary investigation into it,” he said. “Usually, when you’re looking at 24-36 hours that a person is not there, and you know this person and know it’s unusual for the person to do that, it’s best to go ahead and look into it as soon as possible.”
Davidson was last seen by her husband 24 hours ago, but Wright re-stated that the couple “have had some domestic issues in the past.”
“According to him, something like this has happened before,” Wright said. “But like I said, I don’t want to take this as face value either.”
Wright would not release whether Davidson was last seen by her husband or if someone else reported seeing her after she left for the EMCC Mayhew campus, and Wright did not state what time she left her home Monday morning.
If anyone has any information regarding Davidson’s whereabouts, please contact the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at 328-6788 or 911.
