Aberdeen police arrested one man after a Saturday night shooting at a local night club sent two people to the hospital.
Robert Lee White, 31, of Woodland, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
The incident happened at Club Nacirema, also known as Johnny May’s Night Club, located on Highway 25 South in Aberdeen.
Henry Randle, Aberdeen police chief, said it started as a misunderstanding between two men and ended in shots fired. Randle said police recovered three bullet casings from a 9-mm handgun.
“Both of the guys that got shot were just innocent bystanders,” Randle said. “They weren’t part of it.”
The two who were shot are Ronnie Doss and Foster Fields, both of Aberdeen. Doss was shot in the abdomen and Fields was shot in the lower ankle, Randle said, and it is unknown who else was involved in the incident.
“I haven’t had much time to interview them because (they were in) surgery,” Randle said.
Randle said both Doss and Fields were transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle and both are still at the hospital.
White was arrested the same night, Randle said, and he was transported to Monroe County jail. His bond has not been set as of Monday afternoon.
Randle said he does not believe there is a connection between this incident and a reported shooting that took place the same night in north Columbus.
Police are still investigating the shooting.
