One of two things will happen on the Mississippi University for Women campus Wednesday: Dr. Jim Borsig will be named the next president of The W, or the state College Board will announce that the search continues.
Borsig, associate commissioner for external relations and public policy for the state Institutions of Higher Learning, was selected by the College Board as the preferred candidate for president of MUW.
Wednesday, he will meet with community leaders, faculty and staff, students, alumni and other campus and community members, answering questions and listening to feedback from audience members.
The sessions begin at 8 a.m. in the President’s Dining Hall with a community leaders breakfast and close with a campus and community session at Cochran Ballroom starting at 1:30 p.m.
The College Board starts its meeting at 1:30 as well in Cochran Hall Room 305.
In addition to the MUW presidential search, the College Board plans to discuss a University of Mississippi Medical Center future bonding issue and a UMMC personnel issue.
The College Board will have a press conference in Cochran Ballroom immediately after the board meeting.
Caron Blanton, director of communication for the College Board, expects the press conference to come at about 3:30, in the Cochran Ballroom.
At that time, she said, the College Board will either name Borsig president or announce that the board will continue its search.
College Board members are expected to attend portions of the day’s sessions with Borsig. They also will be provided with evaluation forms and transcriptions of the day’s questions, comments and Borsig’s responses.
“Regardless if they are in the room or not, they will still get the data from the evaluation forms, and they will still get the comments,” Blanton said.
The schedule for sessions with Borsig is as follows:
- 8 a.m.: Community leaders breakfast at the President’s Dining Room
- 8:45 a.m.: Deans, department heads, senior program officers at Cochran Ballroom
- 9:30 a.m.: Faculty at Cochran Ballroom
- 10:15 a.m.: Staff at Cochran Ballroom
- 11:00 a.m.: Students at Cochran Ballroom
- 12:45 p.m.: Alumni and Foundation Representatives at Cochran Ballroom
- 1:30 p.m.: Campus and Community at Cochran Ballroom
