Columbus police arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a home burglary Tuesday night.
A 911 call came in sometime around 6:30 p.m. at the 800 block of Eighth Ave. N.
Davonta Hayden, 18, of Short Third Street North in Columbus, was arrested on a charge of burglary of a dwelling. Police said two other males believed to be involved are juveniles and have not been arrested yet.
Police said the burglary occurred Monday, and the group went back to the area to retrieve the items they hid. When they did, a neighbor noticed them with a 19-inch, flat-screen television, one of the items stolen, and notified dispatchers. The items stolen include the television, rolls of coins and jewelry, police said.
An officer located the suspects near the area. Detectives George Harris and Raymond Hackler apprehended Hayden near the intersection of 14th Street North and Eighth Avenue North, but the others fled police.
According to police, another burglary occurred three weeks ago, and the group may be responsible for that incident. The investigation is pending, so no one has not been charged in the earlier burglary.
